                                         Abraham Lincoln

                      16th President of the United States of America
                                               (1861-1865)

            A truly great inspirational and motivational speaker.  Lincoln's
            'Gettysburg Address' of 1863 still sends shivers down the spine,
            even though we have only the text, and his two inaugural speeches
            are reckoned to be among the best in U.S. presidential history,
            especially the second, delivered a month before his assassination.

            Yet, like so many great public speakers, Lincoln had to work to
            develop his oratorical skills.  He took what natural ability he had
            and worked hard to improve it.  And we should remember that he
            had none of the amplification technology we have today.  His great
            speeches were delivered to audiences in the open air!      

Speaking

Adrian speaks with natural humour and an upbeat style, as he both entertains and informs his audiences.  His primary purpose is always to entertain, and he takes great pleasure in hearing his audiences laugh - which happens frequently.  As happy speaking after dinner as he is when training or coaching, Adrian can think on his feet and always welcomes heckling and interjection - now there's a challenge . . .


Adrian has spoken to many groups and organisations, including Rotary International clubs as far apart as Greater London, Bristol, Skegness and Brighton, and Lions clubs and Women's Institutes, about public speaking, driving skills and first aid, all subjects in which he is an expert.  Adrian's entertaining and informative speeches and presentations are invariably well-received (see 'Driving').


Adrian is a member and a past-president of 'London Corinthians', a London-based club that is affiliated to Toastmasters International, a worldwide organisation of over 12,000 public speaking and leadership development clubs within which he has also been an Area Governor (Toastmasters International is structured much like Rotary International).  Toastmasters International's clubs offer three unique training and development tools: an educational programme to work through (developed over more than 75 years); an audience to speak to; and feedback, some of it detailed, from anything up to 50 fellow club members and guests.  Adrian's mentoring and coaching has helped many people, from all continents, develop and improve their public speaking and presentation skills, helping them enhance - indeed, supercharge! - both their careers and their social lives.
